The HiLux is legendary for its rugged durability, but it also needs to carry your team in comfort and style.

Every aspect of the HiLux car design has been thought through, from the multiple body types and seating capacity options and ergonomic design, to cup holders, and all the storage space you could need. With a HiLux on your team, working hard doesn't have to mean roughing it.

Storage Compartments

Because the HiLux is designed to deal with just about anything you throw at it, it's got loads of great storage options. For starters you'll find a large moulded pocket on the front door across the range. There are also handy storage compartments in the dash, in the rear door pockets (Double-Cab), the back-quarter panels (Extra-Cab), under the rear seats (Extra & Double-Cabs) and in the centre console (where fitted). For the ultimate in practicality, the SR5 range even offers an overhead storage compartment, fitted flush to the ceiling, and providing integrated map lamps.

Audio System

The audio system pumps out great sound across the range. Two powerful, strategically mounted speakers provide the entertainment in the WorkMate and SR models. While in the SR5, the acoustics are positively luxurious thanks to a wraparound 6 speaker system.

Bluetooth™

Keeping up with events is now easier and safer and with incoming calls automatically transferred from your mobile to the ute, you don't even have to interrupt calls when entering or leaving the HiLux, because the connection is automatically transferred between the mobile phone and the HiLux audio system. And because calls are routed through the HiLux audio system, sound quality is excellent. HiLux doesn't leave it there though. In-car Bluetooth™ is now standard across the range enabling audio streaming from selected phones and MP3^ players while you're on the road.

Ergonomic Design

HiLux is full of cleverly researched, sensibly designed touches that help make your working life easier. For example, you'll notice that the controls are placed easily within your reach. The steering wheel and instrument panel are carefully positioned to ensure clear visibility of instruments. The easy to read instrument panel has a stylish horizontal design. And SR models come with fingertip steering wheel audio controls so you don't have to take your hands from the steering wheel to control you favourite music. And to make work life a little simpler the SR5 models come with telephone controls for compatible mobile phones.

Seating Capacity

We know that there will be jobs where you need a full team, and others where it's just you. So the HiLux offers great flexibility in seating, across the range. There is plenty of cabin space, with seating for up to 6 adults in the Double-Cab (available on some manual models), up to 4 adults in the Extra-Cab models and up to 3 adults in some manual Single-Cab models. And with carefully researched and ergonomically designed seating, you also get more legroom and space between occupants.

HiLux. Unbreakable, because you're not.

With its go anywhere, do anything attitude, we are constantly working to ensure HiLux remains unbreakable, no matter what gets thrown at it. At the same time we do everything we can to ensure the vehicle is equipped with outstanding levels of safety through both 'passive' and 'active' safety features.

ABS Brakes

The system uses a combination of modern electronics and a hydraulic actuator to monitor the wheels during braking. If the system detects that the wheels are beginning to lock, it automatically adjusts braking pressure to free the lock up. To help assist the driver retain control of steering during hard braking or an emergency stop, helping to avoid accidents.

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD)

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is standard on all 4x4 SR5 Double-Cab models and is available as part of an option package on all 4x4 SR Double-Cab Pick-up models. It forms part of our 'Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i)'. It helps keep HiLux more stable and balanced when braking, particularly when the vehicle needs to stop suddenly.

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)

Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) comes as standard on 4x4 SR5 Double-Cab models and is optional on all 4x4 SR Double-Cab Pick-up models.

The system uses fast-acting computer-based intelligence to sense oversteer (back wheel sideways skid) and understeer (front wheel sideways skid) during cornering, and automatically activates to keep the vehicle on track.

Traction Control (TRC)

The brake pedal has been designed to separate upon frontal impact, and the pedal stopper at the lower part of the instrument panel helps reduce the volume of pedal retraction into the driver’s foot space.

Traction Control (TRC) is now standard on all SR5 Double-Cab 4x4 models and is optional on all 4x4 SR Double-Cab Pick-up models. TRC provides the logical reverse system to Anti-skid Braking (ABS) - where ABS helps reduce wheel lock up during hard braking, TRC helps the vehicle to avoid wheel spin while accelerating.

SRS Airbags (Front Airbags, Curtain Airbags)

HiLux comes with driver and front passenger SRS airbags as standard across the range. There are also front seat side and curtain shield airbags for the driver, passenger and outer rear passengers, fitted in all SR 4x4 and SR5 4x4 Extra-Cab and Double-Cab models.

Frontal airbags help to reduce shock to the head and chest In a frontal collision, while the curtain shield airbags reduce the force of impact to the head area, should there be a collision from the side.

The airbags are just one of HiLux's advanced passive safety features. They work together with the pre-tensioning seatbelts and impact absorbing crumple zone technology to help keep both driver and passengers as safe as possible should a collision occur.

Impact Absorption

Should the HiLux be struck by another vehicle, there are systems in place to help absorb the impact before it reaches you and your passengers.

Big, tough and good looking

HiLux's style and good looks extend to the exterior, with long aesthetic lines, bold wheel-arch flares (SR VSC option pack and SR5 4x4), an open grille to emphasise its width, an aggressive bonnet scoop on Turbo Diesel models, moulded front bumpers, large transparent headlights and a large deck. All WorkMate and SR models are fitted with black exterior mirrors, while for really slick style, the SR5 models have chrome plated mirrors with integrated side turn indicators#.

Three strong body types

HiLux is available in many different body type configurations to suit different requirements. There are three models; the WorkMate, SR and SR5, and three body styles - Single-cab, Extra-cab and Double-cab. There are three different engine options, the 2.7-litre petrol, 4.0-litre V6 petrol and 3.0-litre turbo diesel. You can also choose between the 4x2 workhorse and the genuine 4x4. All models feature rust resistant steel sheets throughout the paneling and highly rigid and lightweight body structures. Every HiLux has a 1-piece chassis with a thick side rail and strategic reinforcements for maximum torsion rigidity, off-road stability and ride comfort.

Because we know that Australia has some of the toughest working conditions on earth, every HiLux includes rust resistant paneling, and the 4X4 SR and SR5 models also has under-body protection plates and sidesteps. There's also its rigid body, a one-piece chassis with a thick side rail and a high-quality latch and pole type tailgate on a larger deck.

In the HiLux you can travel in comfort whatever the load, thanks to double wishbone suspension standard across the range, combined with leaf spring and twin tube shock absorbers on the rear to deliver outstanding steering stability even when it's carrying a heavy load.

Limited Slip Rear Differential

Australia provides some of the toughest conditions on earth and the HiLux has been designed to tame them. One of the features that make the vehicle such a reliable and unbreakable workhorse is Limited Slip Differential (LSD). This comes as standard across most of the HiLux range. LSD transmits torque to the wheel with traction, it detects wheel slippage through inconsistent rotational speeds. LSD is now fitted as standard across all HiLux 4x2 V6 petrol models# and all 4x4 models (except VSC equipped vehicles).

In SR5 Double-Cab 4x4 models Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) comes as standard. It is also available on SR Double-Cab 4x4 models as part of the option pack.

VSC is a system that monitors your steering angle against the direction in which the HiLux is actually travelling, and uses the results to sense when the front or rear wheels may begin to slip. It automatically detects that you're not on your intended path and intervenes; helping ensure safer cornering by actively detecting and controlling any understeer or oversteer. The HiLux Vehicle Stability Control system then cuts power and applies braking pressure to the relevant wheels to help you regain control. Most of the time VSC plays no part in your driving at all. But, it activates at the first signs of skidding, taking corrective action to help bring the HiLux under control and heading in the direction you want it to.

LSD (or the VSC option) makes towing a heavy load, in wet weather or on uneven terrain, a good deal safer and helps ensure that the driver has greater control over the vehicle at all times.

3.0-Litre EDI Turbo Diesel Engine

The powerful HiLux 3.0-litre Turbo Diesel engine delivers a combination of excellent performance and surprising fuel economy. Available in all grades#, it features EDI (Electronic Direct Injection) and a common rail system for excellent performance and fuel efficiency. The common rail system improves combustion efficiency while the variable vane turbo charger maximises low-end torque and provides a sharper response.

2.7-Litre, 4 Cylinder Engine with VVT-i

The 2.7-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine with VVT-i is an engine choice designed to help keep running costs down without sacrificing the level of performance you need.

VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology provides improved efficiency and performance, without missing out on power - the 2.7-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine delivers a healthy 116kW of power and 240Nm torque.

4.0-Litre V6 Engine with VVT-i

Because we know that Australia has some of the toughest working conditions on the planet, the HiLux 4.0-litre V6 engine has been tried and tested in Australian conditions to make sure it delivers what you need, whatever the job throws at you. The 4.0-litre V6 engine has VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology for improved efficiency and performance. The engine is lightweight, compact and quiet while still powerful. It delivers high performance, 175kW/ 376Nm torque (auto)/ 343Nm torque (manual) and has excellent fuel efficiency.
